Typing week8: My favorite place

My favorite place is TESL Center in Saint Mary's University. I am a TESL student now. I love it, because there are my friends who are from other countries and wonderful teacher. I don't like quiz, but I like classes. I can learn a lot of things. One class have about 10 students, so I have many opportunity to say my opinions and ask questions to my teacher. In addition, There are sence of the seasons, especially, Christmas. Recently, TESL staffs decorated the building. It is very cute! We don't have opportunities social gathering to SMU students. I think it is better KGU. However, they give us a lot of events. For example, Yoga, Chicken wings, NS tour, getting NS ID, Christmas tree lighting ceremony and the like.  I am very happy to come TESL center, and I am filled with gratitude to there. After I go back to Japan, definitely I will miss there.

Closing Ceremony

Last Friday, Closing Ceremony was held. That day is special for me, and I looked forward to attending it. First of all, I was happy to know that Japanese hosted the ceremony. I didn't know him, but I was proud of it. Secondly, we gave certificate. I can step up for level 4! I felt relieved. Finally, we watched video. Last semester, each class recorded short movie about Christmas and new year. In my class, we said about our class and then Chinese student said "Marry Christmas" in English and Chinese. Japanese students said "Happy New Year" in English and Japanese. Arabic students said also said something. Some classes, they sang a Christmas songs or do short drama. In addition many teachers, staffs and woman who clean TESL sang a song. It was fantastic and funny. It is very different between Japan and Canada. Every semester, some students was nominated as outstanding students be our teacher, but I didn't win. However, Japanese student won, so I was happy. Last semester, Japanese student also win.

Typing week1: My favorite restaurant

One of my favorite restaurant is Sushinami. This is Japanese food restaurant in downtown. In Halifax, there are lots of Japanese restaurant. However, Sushinami is near my residence and they have sushi, ramen, bento, and okonomiyaki. I don't miss Japanese food. The cooker are Chinese, but taste is similar to Japanese. I often go there with Chinese and Japanese friends. However I think it is a little bit expensive. In Halifax, there is cheaper Japanese restaurant, but it is so far from my residence. Last time, I went to there with mu ex roommates. It took us about 2 hours to go to the restaurant. So, the best restaurant is Sushinami. I usually eat sushi there, so I want to try other dishes next time.

The Final Presentation

Last semester, I have done presentation twice in the conversation class. Second presentation was final presentation. I could decide topic myself, but we have to select academic topic. We also could talk from 5 to 10 minutes. I talked about Japanese Women's Position.

 

I was very nervous, because I couldn't read anything. That's why, I practice many times, more than 10, and polished. The day of final presentation, Chinese students did that first. However, they spoke a long time. Sometimes our teacher asked questions and said her comments, so the longest student talked about 30 minutes! All Japanese students were surprised and we couldn't understand why Chinese students didn't care about time. That's why, Japanese students couldn't do presentation the day.

When I did my presentation, I was not nervous. I practiced every day, so I completely memorized my speech. I repeated in my mind that if I finish it, winter vacation will be coming. Finally, I finished it, and I was sure I succeed. My teacher said to me she hadn't know about it, and it was very interesting. Her word made me happy.

Typing5: Something special I did during this vacation (vacation 5)

In winter vacation, most Japanese students went back to Japan, so we and Arabic friend had been to the restaurant. The restaurant is Arabic. It was the first time that I ate Arabic food. We ate kebab. It was very delicious and hearty. I think Arabic food is more delicious than Chinese food. I really love it. However beef was a little bit tough, so I will order chicken kebab next time. I really miss my Japanese friends. Yesterday, we had closing ceremony. Two of Japanese friends gave me letters and we took photos. Every time, teachers selected outstanding student in end of semester. I was nominated, but other Japanese student won. After that, we watched a video. Each class made short movie about christmas and new year. It was fantastic!

Typing2: What class I will take next term (vacation2)

I'm in Canada, and I will go to the TESL center in next term. Next term will be from January to February. I’m going to take IELTS class and listening class. However, I'm not sure whether I will able to take the class or not. We usually find our class before the class. But I applied the classes, so I hope I can take the classes. In morning, I'm going to the level4. I'm worry, because from level4 is very difficult, because content is more academic. We need to do lots of homework, ppt, and quiz. Absolutely I will be hardworking, because when my roommate was level4 student, she used to be hardworking. They said to me not to worry so much, but I really worry.

Typing1: My vacations plans (Vacation1)

I will spend in Halifax in winter vacation. In fact, I'd go to Toronto with my roommates, but they will go to China, so one of my roommate and I decieded to stay here. I think I will able to enjoy here. There are a lot of Japanese and Korean food restaurants shopping center. I will go to there with my roommate and my friends. Most Japanese friends went back to Japan, so I really miss them. However I want to keep in touch with them in winter vacation, because I will have plenty of time. Next semester, I will study more academic, so I will also keep studying.
